CLEANING AND CARE:

Initial recommendations:

  • Perform a visual and mechanical check of new surgical instruments.
  • Visible dirt must be removed as soon as possible to prevent residue from drying.
  • Avoid long waiting times for cleaning and disinfection of instruments.

Manual preliminary cleaning:

  • Initially, wash by hand with neutral soap.
  • In the operating room, remove apparent dirt as soon as possible to prevent encrustation that may cause corrosion.
  • Avoid long waiting times for reprocessing (<1h).
  • Prefer dry cleaning, as medical devices may corrode if submerged for a long time in solutions.
  • If dry cleaning is insufficient, wash with cold water (<40ºC), including cavities, grooves, and hard-to-reach holes, using pressurized water if possible. Ensure no area is left uncleaned. A soft-bristle plastic brush can be used.
  • Thoroughly dry with an absorbent cloth that leaves no residue or with compressed air.

Cleaning and disinfection:

  • Immerse the products in a solution of distilled water with an appropriate disinfectant in an ultrasonic bath or a tank.
  • Follow the instructions established by the disinfectant manufacturer to select the washing program, temperature, and time.
  • Clean instruments with movable joints in an open position or by moving the joints to avoid "shadow areas." Follow the manufacturer's instructions to dismantle removable instruments.
  • Fix the instruments with minimal spacing in the cleaning container and avoid overlap to prevent damage from collisions.
  • At the end of the disinfection program, rinse the products thoroughly with cold distilled water, emphasizing cavities, grooves, and hard-to-reach holes of the instrument, using pressurized water if possible.
  • Thoroughly dry with an absorbent cloth that leaves no residue or with compressed air.

Lubrication:

  • Use Sterilit Protector Instrumental (ref. 13.859.1 and 13.859.2) to protect the instruments.
  • Attach the included white plastic tube to the spray and apply the oil directly to the joint area or hard-to-reach areas.
  • Open and close the instrument several times to distribute the oil evenly and remove the excess with a lint-free cloth. Then proceed to sterilize the instrument, as the oil film is permeable to steam. It will act as a lubricant and anti-corrosion agent without leaving stains on the instruments.

Sterilization:

  • Sterilize products in accordance with corresponding national requirements.
  • Product sterilization must be carried out in appropriate sterilization packaging.
