TREATMENTS FOR INGROWN NAILS

Coexist two major methods of treatment in the cure and correction of this pathology: 

SURGERY

There is the treatment at the level of surgery, in this case minor surgery, where the specialist podiatrist performs, with various types of techniques, such as Phenol Alcohol, or others, a small intervention in the nail matrix, tending to eliminate the problem and prevent relapses.

SYSTEMS FOR INGROWN NAILS

The most common systems and most widely accepted by podiatrists, for their effectiveness and security, are:

CELSYSTEM

This system consists of a controlled molecular memory material, which is offered in the form of tabs or clips, and also in the form of cut-out strips. This material is applied, once the nail is clean and free of creams or oils, and once trimmed to the necessary size, to the nail to be corrected, using a special adhesive of the Celsystem.

The memory, implicit in the material, makes to have a corrective effect on the nail, while it grows and takes it out of the lateral nail fold. The good thing about this system is its simplicity of application, which is quite effective, which is quite economic and has no adverse effects.

A complete Kit is available, which includes several types of clips of different sizes, as well as the cut-out strips, the adhesive, an applicator spatula, a tweezer to facilitate the application and a small polisher to scrape the nail. 

PODOFIX

One of the best known and applied systems for its safety and effectiveness. It consists of some plastic braces or tips with a tensioning wire.

These braces, of different sizes, are applied over the nail by means of a special adhesive, and then the wire is "twisted", according to the instructions for use, thus exerting a traction on the nail and forcing it to leave its incarnated position.

Once applied on the nail, it is treated with a special gel, which is hardened with a small UV lamp included in the system and forms a hard layer, which protects and stylizes the nail.

The system consists of spare parts for loose braces and a complete Podofix kit, which includes a series of braces of various sizes, as well as special instruments to facilitate the application. It also includes a small Pedigel jar and a small UV lamp.

In addition, these instruments and complements can be purchased separately, just like the replacement braces. 

COMBIPED

The Combiped system consists of a special steel wire, with a large elastic memory, available in three diameters from thinner to thicker.

This wire has on one side a fixation brace being this brace the one that is fixed to the nail by means of a special adhesive.

Contrarily, once cut the necessary size, a semi-circular hook is formed that is inserted in the edge of the nail, pulling it upwards, with the will to remove it from the bed and achieve a degree of correction. This system is stronger and more aggressive than the Podofix.

Moreover, there is available a kit containing spare wires, special adhesive, wipes and three instruments needed to twist and cut the wire. The individual components, such as the refills, adhesive, instruments and Pedigel, can be purchased separately.

PODOSTRIPE

The type of tongue with a patented technology is one of the novelties, which makes its use much easier and increases efficiency. A case kit is available with the different spare parts of various sizes and the special adhesive. It also includes an instrument that helps in the placement. These elements can also be purchased separately.

SPANGE 3TO Plus

The conventional ortonixia of wires, but in this case simplified because these wires are already cut and forming a defined loop that greatly facilitates the task of laying.

The system includes various measures of wire loops, as well as specific instruments to assist in placement. All these components can be purchased separately. 

NAILS GUIDE

Another way to try to solve the problem of the ingrown nail is to place a guide on the edge of the nail. This consists of a small open conduit, in the shape of a tube, through which the nail is inserted and in this way the nail is removed and corrected. 

NAIL RECONSTRUCTION

This technique tries to reconstruct or restore the nail, either by damage to it or because it is necessary to remove part of it to access the interior for various pathologies or infections.

There are different techniques and materials for this work, being very convenient that the materials used contain some type of fungicide product or are as less aggressive as possible.

There are different types of nail reconstruction in our catalogue:

GEL WITH CLOTRIMAZOLE

This special Gel is very easy to apply and distribute on the nail, using a small spatula. It adheres and fixes easily to the remaining piece of nail. It hardens in a few minutes when a UV light is applied, being recommended a power of 8 W.

Includes Clotrimazole, which is a potent fungicide. It does not smell and is not aggressive. We have demonstrative videos where show the application of this product. 

SELF-POLYMERIZING RESINS:

Another alternative product to gel is resins, which are presented in powder and liquid form (Monomer and Polymer) and when they are mixed together, they polymerize at room temperature in a few minutes.

These resins are also applied to the surface of the nail, forming a very hard surface that adheres perfectly to the remaining piece of nail. They can be polished and painted on top. You can find two types of resins in Herbitas:

A model, specially designed for nail work, Rekonstrukcja. This model does not smell, is not aggressive and includes a Silver antimicrobial agent. This model also has a base fixing agent, primer, which helps in fixing it.

Another traditionally used model is the Monomer and Polymer. You can find this model in powder and liquid.

COMPLEMENTS AND LAMPS

The more appropriate complements to the products and techniques mentioned before are the following:  

The open UV lamp. This lamp is powerful and has a power of 8 W. Moreover, it is also open at the front and back, making it easier for the person applying the treatment.

Another important complements that facilitate the work are: Crystal Godet, for resin mixing. Tamponade, which is a non-absorbent mini bandage, has to be placed on the edge of the nail. Instrument bag. And a practical kit that includes: 1 spatula-1 polisher, 1 shine polisher, 1 roughing burr, 1 lateral nail fold burr, 1 finishing burr, 1 gel with Clotrimazole, 1 anatomical cleaning brush.
