Podiabland Silicone - Medium Hardness

PODIABLAND PODIATRY SILICONE

Podiabland is a medium-hardness (12-15 Shore A) podiatry silicone, particularly suitable for the manufacture of orthoses and orthoplasties in podiatry and orthopaedics.

It comes in the form of a viscous silicone paste that vulcanises at room temperature through a polycondensation reaction. When the Master-Cat catalyst is added, the silicone hardens to form an elastic and durable material.

Its formulation contains medical-grade oil, an antibacterial agent and hydroxyprolysilane. Thanks to its consistency and ease of handling, it is particularly suitable for making corrective orthoses, interdigital separators and devices designed to reduce pressure points and friction.

It is also easy to work with, does not tear or stick to the hands during handling. It has a pleasant strawberry fragrance, a pink colour and can be mixed with other silicones.

COMPOSITION:

• Silicone polymer.

PHYSICOCHEMICAL PROPERTIES:

• Appearance: viscous silicone paste.

• Boiling point: 919 °C.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

1. Take the required amount of silicone and add two lines of catalyst. The silicone-to-catalyst ratio is 100 parts silicone to 5 parts catalyst.
2. Knead the silicone paste vigorously with the catalyst until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
3. Once mixed, apply immediately to the desired area and hold in place for a few minutes.
4. After a few minutes, the orthosis can be removed, adjusted and given to the patient.
5. The working time is approximately 5 minutes and complete vulcanization is achieved after 24 hours.

Master-Cat note: Add 2 lines of catalyst, each approximately the length of the little finger.

PRECAUTIONS:

• Control the amount of catalyst and kneading time.
• Do not add more catalyst than necessary.
• Knead thoroughly and quickly to prevent the silicone from starting to vulcanise during handling.
• Continuing to mix once vulcanisation has begun may cause lumps to form, resulting in a poorly finished orthosis that is more prone to tearing.

• If any adverse reaction or irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a specialist.

STORAGE:
