What is proprioception?

Every movement activates every one of our muscles, joints and skin. Charles Scott Sherrington, a great neurosurgeon and Nobel Prize winner in medicine, called the sensory signals triggered by movement proprioceptors.

Is proprioception important?

Proprioceptors are highly specialised sensory organs; they give our brain information about our body when we are still, at rest or in motion. Even when a movement has already been initiated, proprioception signals allow performance to be adjusted and improved.

For example, when we are running, proprioceptors are continuously activated and allow us to execute movements safely. This applies even when we are playing volleyball, basketball, tennis, football, running, climbing or walking. Those who have problems with proprioception due to ligament trauma or degenerative pathologies of the nervous system, can suffer from unstable movements. In addition, the risk of falls and injuries increases.

Finally, we can improve our motor control and experience beneficial effects if we stimulate the proprioceptors in the ankle with force.

ACTIVATE YOUR PROPRIOCEPTIVE CONTROL SYSTEM TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE

Balance, motor control and stability are improved by the use of Equilibrium socks, which help prevent injuries during multiple sports. In addition, their elastic structure and crossover are indispensable during recovery and rehabilitation from ankle trauma.

The effectiveness of Vitalsox Equilibrium has been demonstrated by a scientific research study on a wide range of people, including both athletes and non-athletes at a leading university.
