CLEANING AND CARE:

Initial Recommendations:

  • Perform a visual and mechanical inspection of the new surgical instrument.
  • Visible dirt should be removed as soon as possible to prevent residues from drying.
  • Avoid long waiting times before cleaning and disinfecting the instrument.

Preliminary Manual Cleaning:

  • Initially, it should be washed by hand with neutral soap.
  • In the operating room, the most apparent dirt should be removed immediately to avoid encrustation that could lead to corrosion.
  • It is essential to avoid long waiting times for reprocessing (<1h).
  • Dry cleaning is preferable since medical devices may corrode if submerged in solutions for extended periods.
  • If dry cleaning is insufficient, they should be washed with cold water (< 40°C), including cavities, grooves, and hard-to-reach holes, which should be washed with pressurized water. Avoid uncleaned areas. A plastic brush with soft bristles can be used.
  • Thoroughly dry with an absorbent, lint-free cloth or compressed air.

Cleaning and Disinfection:

  • Submerge the instruments in a solution of distilled water with an appropriate disinfectant in an ultrasonic bath or container.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the disinfectant product to select the washing program, temperature, and duration.
  • Clean instruments with movable joints in the open position or by moving the joints to avoid "shadow areas." Follow the manufacturer's instructions for disassembling the instrument if required.
  • Instruments should be arranged with minimal spacing in the cleaning container, avoiding overlapping to prevent damage from impacts.
  • After the disinfection program, rinse the instruments thoroughly with plenty of cold distilled water, ensuring particular attention to cavities, grooves, and hard-to-reach holes, preferably using pressurized water.
  • Thoroughly dry with an absorbent, lint-free cloth or compressed air.

Lubrication:

  • Use Sterilit Protector Instrumental (ref. 13.859.1 and 13.859.2) to protect the instruments.
  • Attach the provided white plastic tube to the spray and apply the aerosol oil directly to the joint area or hard-to-reach areas.
  • Open and close the instrument several times to distribute the oil evenly and remove excess with a lint-free cloth. Then, proceed with sterilization, as the oil film is permeable to steam. It will act as a lubricant and anti-corrosive without leaving stains on the instruments.

Sterilization:

  • Sterilize instruments according to applicable national regulations.
  • Sterilization should be performed in appropriate sterilization packaging.
