Silicones

Silicones have been used in podiatry for many years. Its main virtues are its ease of work to make custom orthoses, shock absorbing capacity, absence of rejections in general, ease of washing and the possibility of achieving textures and hardnesses at will.

The advantage of Laboratorios Herbitas is that has the most complete range of all of them, so the podiatrist can choose the one that best suits his/her needs or preferences.

PODIATRY SILICONES RANGE

Laboratorios Herbitas silicones rangeis made up of silicones that vulcanize with catalyst and others, addition calls consisting of two components –A+B- and they vulcanize by mixing with each other, in equal parts.

These silicones have been the result of many years of research. Laboratorios Herbitas has achieved the perfect textures and hardnesses for the podiatrists, that is why they are today appreciated and valued in many countries, both in Europe and America.

They are silicones designed to be easy to work with, do not adhere to the hand and the final texture is the desired one, according to the needs of the podiatrist. They are generally presented in the form of putty, kneadable in the hand.

 WHAT COMPONENT SILICONES HAVE?

Many of these models in our range include exclusive components, such as BIOMASTER, to achieve a reduction in the level of germ contaminants. And Hidroxiprolisilane, an agent with healing properties that helps in the healing process of small scars or frictions and regenerates cells.

Catalysts can be liquid such as REAKTOL or in pasty/gel as Master Cat.

Blanda Blanda Silicone

Both in the models that need a catalyst and in the two-component models, Laboratorios Herbitas has models with a very soft and elastic texture, such as BLANDA BLANDA SILICONE, ideal for the manufacture of palliative orthoses, pressure relief or pain reducers. This model is very soft and elastic. The Shore hardness of this model is from 2 to 4 Shore, approx.

Podiabland

PODIABLAND is another model of intermediate hardness, which has a hardness of 11 to 15 Shore, and which is ideal for palliative orthoses and at the same time with more consistency. 

Serie Master

SERIE MASTER is available for greater hardnesses. This product has a hardness of 25-26 Shore. This model is most used for more corrective and firm orthoses.

Orthotic Silicone

ORTHOTICA is a perfect product for more corrective orthoses, for children and this silicone is of greater subjection. It is an addition silicone with two components –A+B- but it is extraordinarily easy to work with, very consistent and it can be polished easily.

One of the characteristics of the silicones is that they can be mixed together to obtain textures or hardnesses more particular to each one. Important: as long as they are of the same type. In other words, it is NOT possible to mix condensation type silicones with catalyst, with two component or addition silicones.

Ortho-2000

ORTHO-2000 is a fluid silicone in our program.

This silicone with a fluid and sticky texture is usually kneaded on a plastic surface or in our orthosis block with a spatula and with the addition of liquid catalyst.

Being a fluid silicone allows the addition of a textile tubular bandage, such as Tubinet, and thus the ability to make more complex, durable orthoses, or reduced thicknesses. It can also be used in combination with normal putty models, for breaks or repairs.

The herbitas polymer is also available in our program; it is liquid and has a translucent color. It is also used mixed with liquid catalyst for repairs or breakages in orthoses.

WHAT SILICONE TO USE?

Every professional podiatrist already knows from experience the texture and hardness he or she needs. However, we can say that those with lowest Shore are ideal for palliative orthoses, separation, reduction of pressure or pain due to rubbing or pressure. The following silicones are the perfect ones for that type of orthoses: the SOFT SOFT or PODIABLAND.

Finally, for those of corrector type or for children, the ideal are those of greater hardness Shore, such as the SERIE MASTER or ORTHOTICA silicone.
